Doug Gutro was raised in Quincy, graduated from Quincy Public Schools, and went on to earn business and public management degrees from UMASS-Boston and Suffolk University.
As an advocate, he led the fight to cleanup and restore Wollaston Beach and our city’s coastal assets.
For the past decade, Doug has been privileged to represent the residents of Ward 5, serving Quincy Center and Wollaston as ward councilor. He’s dedicated to finding neighborhood solutions by following his 3 R’s of local government: reliable; responsive; results! In 2010, Doug was recognized as Ward 5 Citizen of the Year.

On the City Council, Doug has been a leading voice for seniors, veterans, and working families. As Chairman of the Council’s Downtown & Economic Development committee, he helped build consensus and support for historic decisions that will forever reshape our city. Now, as our city moves forward, let’s help Doug bring his ‘neighborhood know-how’ citywide, as our next Councilor- At-Large..
